Use with properly rated nipples and pipe.Black and Galvanized Malleable Iron Fittings are interchangeable with black cast-iron or steel. NPT connections. Use in low-pressure plumbing applications including air, water, natural gas, and steam.Black and Galvanized Fittings resist rust and corrosion, are NSF-61 listed, and certified for use in potable water applications.Black Cast-Iron Threaded Pipe Fittings—Class 125 are designed for use in fire protection applications.Malleable Iron Cross Fittings feature thicker walls that can withstand higher pressures than class 150 fittings. They are suitable for air, water, oil, natural gas, and steam, and must be used with properly rated nipples.

Malleable iron offers more ductility that is often required in light industrial use. Malleable iron pipe fitting is not good for welding.
